We are delighted to have been victorious at the 2024 EFL Awards, with our Terriers Together work recognised in the Diversity Category!

Represented by members of our internal EDI Working Group at the ceremony in London on Sunday 14 April 2024, our endeavours in female inclusion were highlighted as the reason behind our win, having continued to make strides to ensure that the Club is as welcoming as possible to all.

In their press release regarding the award, the EFL commented:

“Huddersfield Town have won the Diversity Award for their Female Fan Engagement Project at tonight’s 2024 EFL Awards ceremony in London.

“The EFL Diversity Award celebrates and recognises excellence in equality, diversity and inclusion.

"Improving the female experience of engaging with Huddersfield Town has been a key strategic objective of the Club since 2017, and the 2023/24 season has been pivotal to that.

“A comprehensive feedback programme has been introduced enabling female supporters to help the Club improve their match day experience, encourage more females to support Huddersfield Town, recognise women connected with the Club and feel involved with the HTAFC community.

“Membership of the Women’s+ Network has grown from nine upon its launch on International Women’s Day in 2022 to 67 members at the close of 2023 - a sevenfold increase. Also, female representation in our workforce has increased from 31.32% to 35.14%.

“Huddersfield continues to take positive action to employ more women and highlight female role models within the Club.”

Accepting the award, Huddersfield Town HR Manager and Equality Lead Zoe Shackleton said:

“Female inclusion has been a longstanding priority, and this award is testament to all the work that everyone at the Club has done.

“I must say thank you to our Chairman Kevin Nagle and our Chief Executive Jake Edwards for all their support.”

Huddersfield Town CEO Jake Edwards added:

“I’m incredibly proud of everyone at the Club who’s hard work has been recognised by the EFL in winning this prestigious award. Inclusivity is of the utmost importance to not only myself and Chairman Kevin Nagle, but the entire leadership team at Huddersfield Town, and we’re delighted that those within our EDI Working Group have had their efforts rewarded.

“In particular, to see our efforts in female inclusively highlighted is really meaningful. We know that our work in that area isn’t complete, but with our Women’s+ Network, Empowerment Conferences and training in Menopause Awareness so prevalent, we have given ourselves a wonderful platform from which to continue working.

“We want our Club to stand for much more than just our sporting endeavours, and our Terriers Together initiative ensures just that. Those core beliefs and principles are engrained across the Club and all employees, and that will only grow over time as we continue to progress together.”
