HIGH PRAISE FOR YOUNG TERRIERS IN POETRY COMPETITION!

19 April 2024

First Team players judge poetry competition in association with Huddersfield Literature Festival

- Town host poetry competition alongside Huddersfield Literature Festival 2024
- Judged by Jonathan Hogg, Michał Helik, Sorba Thomas, and Lee Nicholls
- Thank you to all Young Terriers for their entries!

There was high praise for our Young Terriers from members of the First Team as they judged this year's poetry competition, in association with the Huddersfield Literature Festival!

Following an exceptional standard of entries, it was high praise from judges Jonathan Hogg, Michał Helik, Sorba Thomas, and Lee Nicholls for all Young Terriers who took part!

And - after much deliberation - everyone at Town would like to congratulate our winner, Oliver Boosey from Cumberworth First School!

Oliver's poem will be printed in the match day programme and read aloud at half-time during our fixture with Birmingham City, alongside receiving some exclusive Town merch to take home.

Our judges also picked Harley Fisher, Frankie Clark, Teyonne Campbell, and Lyillah King as runners-up, with them being invited along to our upcoming fixture at the John Smith's Stadium too.

As part of our sponsorship of the 2024 Huddersfield Literature Festival, Club Ambassador Andy Booth paid a visit to the launch of the Club-sponsored Tipi this week, alongside First Team players Brodie Spencer and Brahima Diarra!

Town supporters can find the Tipi in the Courtyard of the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Queen Street until Sunday 28 April 2024!

Open between 11am and 10pm - excluding Monday 22 April and Tuesday 23 April, when it will open from 5pm until 10pm - the Tipi will play host to a range of activities, including children’s book readings and Dinky Disco - and all welcome to attend.

The Tipi will be open to the public - with a bar ran by Huddersfield Live - and will also be hosting 'open mic' nights, local author talks, craft workshops, and performances from local musicians!

All entries from this year's poetry competition will be available to read in the Festival Tipi located in the Courtyard of the Lawrence Batley Theatre from Wednesday 17 April until Friday 26 April 2024.
