Clubs Town will face in 2016/17 decided

- 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship line-up confirmed
- Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Norwich City relegated
- Wigan Athletic, Burton Albion & Barnsley promoted into the league

The sides that Town will face in the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship have been confirmed after the Play-Off Finals at Wembley over the weekend.

Huddersfield Town will renew acquaintances with the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United when the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship campaign gets under way on 6 August.

Town will face newly relegated sides Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Norwich City in the new campaign, as well as promoted Wigan Athletic, Burton Albion and Barnsley.

The line-up includes four Yorkshire derbies for David Wagner's side against the aforementioned Tykes, Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United, as well as several Roses clashes with sides from Lancashire!

The full line-up for the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship is as follows:

Aston Villa
Barnsley
Birmingham City
Blackburn Rovers
Brentford
Brighton & Hove Albion
Bristol City
Burton Albion
Cardiff City
Derby County
Fulham
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
Ipswich Town
Leeds United
Newcastle United
Norwich City
Nottingham Forest
Preston North End
Queens Park Rangers
Reading
Rotherham United
Sheffield Wednesday
Wigan Athletic
Wolverhampton Wanderers

The games against Villa will be the first in almost 30 years, with the last coming in the 1987/88 campaign in the old Division Two. That was a season of contrasting fortunes – Town was relegated whilst Villa went up – but Malcolm Macdonald’s Terriers still managed a 1-1 draw at Villa Park, when Duncan Shearer (pictured above) scored.

Town has faced off against Newcastle much more recently; the last meeting was a 4-3 thriller in the Carling Cup at St. James’ Park in 2009. However, the last league meeting came way back in 1984; a 2-2 draw at Leeds Road thanks to an own goal and a Graham Cooper strike.

Norwich City’s recent history in the Sky Bet Championship means the two sides have met as recently as 2015, when goals from Ishmael Miller and James Vaughan – with the latter being sent off moments later – resulting in another 2-2 draw, this time at the John Smith’s Stadium.
