HAPPY HUDDERSFIELD TOWN DAY!

12 April 2016

90th anniversary of Club clinching its third title

- 12 April is Huddersfield Town Day!
- Celebrate the day Town became 'Thrice Champions'
- Special offer to celebrate in Town's shops!

Happy 'Huddersfield Town Day' to all Town fans everywhere!

12 April is a significant date in Town's history.

On this day in 1926, Huddersfield Town became the first Club in history to win the English Football League Championship three years in succession thanks to a 3-0 home victory over Bolton Wanderers at Leeds Road courtesy of goals from record appearance holder Billy Smith, outside forward Alex Jackson and future Town manager Clem Stephenson.

The legendary Herbert Chapman steered Town to the first two Championships in 1924 and 1925, but Cecil Potter was in charge on this day; Herbert departed for Arsenal prior to the start of the 1925/26 season.

To this day only three clubs have replicated Town's achievement; Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

This season also saw many club records established, many of which still stand to this day; most away goals scored (42) and most undefeated consecutive games away from home (18), whereas the undefeated spell of 27 games which started in January 1925 and ended in October was only broken two seasons ago!

George 'Bomber' Brown also scored 35 League goals in this single season from just 41 appearances.

To celebrate the day - which is the 90th anniversary - Huddersfield Town has a special offer in its shops!
